Traveling to South Africa and Namibia in October was an eye-opening experience for both of the authors. Our primary focus was looking at the educational systems, but all of the students on the trip were deeply moved by two organizations: Bright Hill Kindergarten and Young Achievers. There is a great deal of despair in the country, and these two organizations inspire hope for the future of the country. Bright Hill Kindergarten provides early childhood education to children in the informal settlements. Young Achievers is a group that works on developing plans to achieve dreams as well as overcoming many of the struggles young people face in Namibia. We looked at both of these organizations and were able to see first hand what hope they provided and the impact they made on the communities.
