Women athletes have the risk of developing many physical problems while training for athletics. These include menstrual cycle disorders, eating disorders, and bone mineral disorders. However, these disorders do not have to occur if the proper prevention methods are applied.
The purpose of this presentation is to provide the basic knowledge of the risks that women athletes face in developing these disorders, with an emphasis on eating disorders. The definitions, risk factors, and symptoms of these disorders will be given. Furthermore, the prevention methods and how to approach at-risk athletes will be discussed.
