Investigations of Blephaneura in Jatun Sacha have shown seven cryptic species living and feeding on Grania spinulosa. Currently, we are performing analysis to supply further evidence for divergence among the species in Jatun Sacha of DNA sequences. We will evaluate patterns of divergence with respect to feeding habits (specificity to female flowers, male flowers, both, or seeds) and mating dances (shiver, shimmy, flat clap, among others). Using genetic data, we are able to predict likelihood models which will be used to estimate evolutionary relationships.
