I examined the relationship between the body temperature of individual ornate box turtles, Terrapene ornata, and the temperature of the environments they inhabit. I documented the temperature of eight ornate box turtles and eight habitats across two sites over a six-month period. Temperatures were recorded once per hour and the daily mean temperature of each turtle and each habitat was calculated. I then analyzed both the turtle and habitat temperature data sets for obvious temporal patterns of change, documenting short term and long term temperature fluctuations.
